FAQ

What is the optimum temperature for air-conditioner?

Between 25–27°C. Every 1°C lower can increase running costs by up to 15% or cost you for repairs because they do like a break every so often.

How does air conditioning works?

Similar to refrigerator but split into two parts. The indoor unit acts like the cold plate inside a refrigerator; and the outdoor unit acts like the warm pipes. Heat is transferred between the two units using a compressor to circulate refrigerant.

How much does air conditioning cost to run?

Air conditioning units transfer heat between indoor unit and outdoor unit. We pay for the electricity used for transferring heat. Typically, its cost is 3 to 1, which means we can transfer 3 kilowatts of heat with 1 kilowatt of electricity.

What is a split system?

A system that is split into two parts indoor and outdoor unit.

What is a multi-split system?

A system that consists of several indoor units are piped separately to one outdoor unit.

What are VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) and VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems?

A large number of indoor units can run from one large outdoor unit. This is done with one set of pipes picking up all the indoor units and then running back to the outdoor unit. Usually applied in commercial applications.

What is Inverter driven systems?

The inverter is an electronic device that changes the frequency of the electricity supplied to the compressor. This gives it speed control linked to output requirements. Using an inverter also allows the compressor to "soft start" which eliminates start up surge and allows it to run at slower speeds instead of stopping and starting. This greatly increases the life expectancy of the system. Inverter driven systems are around 30 % more efficient than conventional equipment.
